It all starts with the design idea

Every step counts when it comes to sustainability, and we took the first step back in the 1990s. Instead of mass production, we focus on small series of furniture, which we produce in workshops and factories from high-quality materials. We know our suppliers personally and inspect each production site in Europe and Asia several times a year. Humane and fair working conditions are essential when choosing a business partner.

Think big

Do better than the rest - that's what KARE was founded on in 1981. Our mission is to provide every home with furniture of lasting value, to make every home a happy place. The word "home" is associated with much more than your four walls. It includes the environment and nature, the people we live and work with, and our social surroundings. Our mission does not stop at our customers' doorsteps or in front of our premises.

Preserving values, preserving resources

Each manufacturer must provide us with information on the origin of the wood and other natural materials as well as current and recognised certificates for legal and environmentally compatible sourcing. KARE wood products come exclusively from legal forests. This control process creates trust and makes a valuable contribution to our common future.

« We don't create disposable products.

Our mission is to create favourite pieces of furniture that have everything they need to become lifelong friends. »

Peter Schönhofen

 Wood origin

Each manufacturer must provide us with information on the origin of the wood and other natural materials as well as current and recognised certificates for legal and environmentally compatible sourcing. KARE wood products come exclusively from legal forests. This control process creates trust and makes a valuable contribution to our common future.

Leather for life

A beautiful genuine leather sofa is an investment for life - with the right care, it's hardwearing and gets more beautiful as the years go by. Genuine leather is naturally resistant to abrasion, wear and tear. Particularly compared with cheap leather alternatives, high-quality leather is more environmentally friendly to produce.

Natural to the touch

Our home textiles are pleasant to the touch. They are made from natural materials such as cotton, linen or natural resources such as viscose, which is made from plant fibres. Our internal quality management checks certificates of origin and manages the use of certified labels such as FSC and OEKO-Tex 100.

« With the support of workshops and manufacturers, we are saving rare handicrafts from extinction.

And we're giving local family businesses a future and strengthening the local social community in the process. »

Jürgen Reiter

Quality put to the test

KARE stands for creativity and passion. And yet it is bureaucracy that guarantees the careful handling of nature and its fascinating materials. Our quality management department inspects every product in accordance with strict European regulations. In this way, our team ensures that when we buy wood, we are helping to preserve nature. Even paints, varnishes and coatings, for example, are strictly regulated.

A good feeling of life

Natural materials such as real wood, marble, cotton, wool and linen are increasingly present in our collections. With their colours, haptics and stories, they convey a wonderful sensation, do not pollute our environment and, once recycled, can be reused in the materials cycle.

A sustainable mindset

For a sideboard made from recycled wood, for example, carpenters often work for several days. Furniture is not only made from natural materials such as wood, which are worthy of protection, but often also from the skills of centuries-old craft traditions. That's why we create furniture that will accompany our customers like loyal friends for the rest of their lives. Because in this way, too, we are all making a contribution to sustainable action.

To a long friendship

KARE means unlimited inspiration! That's why we offer furniture, lighting and décor to suit all tastes and styles. After all, living should be a pleasure. But for us, furniture is not a disposable item. Peter Schönhofen, CEOs of KARE: "It's part of our home, even our family, and it represents value. We want to preserve that.

A clear case

Did you know that our coffee tables and occasional tables are made from 100% recycled glass? This resource-efficient production method uses old wine bottles, for example. As in historic glass art, the glass is heated to a high temperature and melted into a solid slab. Your new table has unique structures and looks almost like an ice floe. In this way, you acquire a masterpiece that has already had a life of its own.

Natural and of quality

Our home textiles are easy to handle. They are increasingly made from natural materials such as cotton and linen, or from plant-based raw materials such as viscose. Our internal quality management checks proof of origin and manages the use of certified labels such as FSC and ÉKO-Tex 100.

Fantastic plastic

Our design team is constantly looking for innovative ways to make furniture even more durable
without sacrificing quality. Upholstery fabrics made from recycled waste, like PET bottles here, are surprisingly soft and cuddly. You're doing something good for the environment and for yourself - give it a try!

We think carefully before we print

At KARE, we question every print on paper and examine its value very carefully. The magazine you're holding in your hands is a very special issue: it's published once a year and printed on environmentally-friendly, FSC-certified paper. So you can enjoy it with a clear conscience and rest assured: only selected recipients will receive the magazine, it's not sent as junk mail, making it a work of sustainable inspiration in a limited edition that deserves a place in your library and should be enjoyed for a long time to come.
